SilTek, Inc. Enters Renewable Energy Business With the Acquisition of SandEnergy Unit From Sandros Group, Ltd.
Herndon, Virginia, March 1, 2009 - SilTek, Inc. has acquired the renewable consulting and installation business unit operating as SandEnergy from Sandros Group, Ltd. SandEnergy is the largest renewable energy business in Virginia, having installed over 45,000 watts of solar electric and many solar hot water systems.
"This acquisition makes SilTek, Inc. the region’s sole woman owned, 8(a)-certified business specializing in energy management, specifically renewable energy," said Silvia Park, SilTek's Chairman and CEO.
"Operating under SilTek's umbrella will provide SandEnergy with unprecedented access to federal clients and expansion of our commercial efforts in the federal sector," said Sandros Groups President and Chief Technology Officer, Eric Zelsdorf.
SandEnergy started as an electrical contracting company in the Northern Virginia area in 2004 and quickly established itself as a leader in backup power and renewable energy solutions. By 2008, SandEnergy was the premier renewable energy contractor installing solar, solar hot water, and wind generators in the Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania markets.
SilTek provides energy management consulting to large commercial facilities and the federal government and specializes in the integration of systems engineering, enterprise architecture, and energy management in a practice known as "Energy Architecture." This acquisition pulls together the soft consulting side of SilTek with the hard engineering practice of Sand Energy, and positions the firm to aggressively pursue energy projects anticipated as part of the Obama Administration's energy program.
