Energy Project Engineer
A fast growing, dynamic renewable energy company in Northern Virginia seeks a full time Energy Project Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of renewable energy and energy conservation projects in government and commercial applications. The successful candidate must be entrepreneurial and willing to contribute to the success of a growing organization as well as a dependable self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills. The Energy Project Manager must be able to work independently and multi-task effectively.
The responsibilities of the Energy Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Design, develop, and integrate renewable energy technologies into new or existing power systems
Conduct analyses of building systems (energy audits)
Implement building automation systems
Conduct energy modeling and utility bill analyses
Develop energy conservation measures recommendations, cost estimating, financial and economic analyses and report preparation
Evaluate renewable opportunities for clients including the identification of appropriate technologies and applicable incentives
Prepare administrative and planning documentation including zoning and construction permits, interconnection documents, etc.
Develop and manage project schedules and budgets
QA/QC of project deliverables
Act as the primary technical contact for clients
Identify and analyze opportunities, programs and initiatives both in government and commercial sectors and develop and implement strategies to increase revenue growth
Assist in the development of technical proposals
Qualifications:
A minimum of a four-year engineering degree, preferably in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering, and/or a registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in energy management
Preferred 2 years experience designing and implementing Solar and / or Wind and / or other renewable power generation systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Energy Modeling
Familiarity with electrical standards and safety regulations (OSHA)
Proficiency with Spreadsheets, Advanced Meter Data, Utility Billing Databases, and Expertise to Identify and help correct anomalies in facility energy use
Proficiency in analytical review of energy use data and the development of presentations of findings and proposals for cost-effective solutions
Working knowledge of energy estimating software packages such as Trane Trace or DOE II
Working knowledge of Load Profile, data presentation, and manipulation
Familiarity with all EO, ESPC, and other relevant legislation and regulations related to energy programs
Understanding of DOE M&V procedures
Understanding of GSA ESPC contracts
US Citizenship or evidence of legal authorization to work in the US
Must pass a government background check for security clearance
PE License, CEM, or advanced LEED certification a plus
